It is not fun being in the hospital!

Well, my BP was up and there was some protein in my urine last week. These two symptoms can sometimes mean preeclampsia. I was admitted to the labor ward for rest and observation. This was Monday of last week. Then the doctors found that my blood pressure was down and the protein had cleared. They wanted to keep me for one more day, but I refused to stay another day and they let me go home. Man, was it sooo boring and I slept the worst. There was a woman next to me in the room who'd just had her baby - so I got to wake up with her baby all night and she would not turn the light off. Also, visiting hours are until 10pm and basically I was sharing the bathroom with her entire family...most of the afternoon. They also kept peeking when they could through my curtain. I think the "rest" part was missing from my stay.

So happy that the doctors let me go home and sleep in my own bed...now I was ready for the resting part. I had a follow up appointment that next Thursday.

Well...it was about 110 degrees outside as I pulled up in the truck and parked in the way back lot...parking is mad here especially at the hospital. There are no regulations, no one gets towed and no one cares how or where people park. So picture me waddling in sweating immediately getting half way to the door and realizing that I had forgotten my appt. papers in the truck. So I cursed a bit turned around and waddled back to the truck. Got the papers - I was even nice enough to back the truck up a bit so that someone could park in front of me. The air conditioning felt good for that 30 seconds. Out of the truck and back into the hospital, don't want to be late. Got to the counter to pay my co-pay and didn't have enough cash on me. They only take cash - so s*&%, out the door I go back into the heat to the area where they have an atm. I got the cash - back out into the heat for a minute or two and emotionally I was spent...cried a little...paid my co-pay and went in to have my blood pressure checked...wouldn't ya know it....it's high! Big frickin' surprise. The nurse always gives you a second chance, so she gives me the tiny bottle and asks me to go give a urine sample and have it checked then come back. Urine samples...geez...I am sooo tired of peeing into little tiny cups! Anyway...here at this hospital you bring your urine sample to the desk, take the cap off yourself, then the nurse sticks a strip into it to see what kind of fabulous ingredients your urine has to offer. Today mine had a trace amount of protein again and blood. I was like crap! Why is there blood? (I'd find out later this is nothing to be concerned about.) Protein again too! I go back to get my blood pressure taken again. It is even higher. Prepare to pack your bags for another hospital stay.

The doctor said that if I couldn't get control of the bp by Sunday...the baby was coming out! Oh my gosh.

This hospital stay lasted three days...of course once I got in there all was well again. Blood pressure went back to normal and the protein disappeared. My doctor sent me home. Josh certainly made it easier by bringing me everything I wanted and more.

No baby for now! My Mom was pretty happy that she had another chance to get here before the baby comes.
